What Speaking Entails

Public Speaking
You will be speaking in front of 15-50 people, so steel your nerves and rehearse your presentation if needed. Brush up on some public speaking and storytelling tips so that you avoid common public speaking mistakes.

Interesting Topic
Leadership will evaluate your topic to ensure that it’s interesting, but a lot of what makes the topic interesting is delivery. Watch TED Talks or even “Smartypants” from Dropout presentations to see how the pros do it.

Preparedness
Make a PowerPoint or other presentation if needed, come up with a title and description for your talk, and get a good headshot of yourself then send all of that to SA Leadership. Be prompt on the day of the Assembly and let Leadership know if you can’t make it.

Co-operation
Be in constant, clear communication with Leadership and ask for help or direction as needed. We want you to do a good job up on stage as much as you do, so don’t hesitate to work with us to ensure that you have everything you need.
What It Means to Speak At The Assembly

The Assembly is the main event and our namesake! You’re the one who makes it worth coming out to the Assembly at all – no pressure. Just be your interesting charismatic self and the rest will flow smoothly. We’ll take care of all the rest that happens before and after you get up on stage.
Speaking at the Assembly is a big job, but it’s thanks to speakers like you that we can make Sunday Assembly run smoothly. We appreciate all that you do!
