Joe has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from MSU; where he was also the president of its Center For Inquiry (CFI) chapter. His hobbies include Dungeons and Dragons, gardening / landscaping with native plants, and cooking. He lives in Southfield with his beautiful wife and two daughters.
Austin was raised as a pagan and a free-thinker. When at Kettering University, he co-founded a CFI chapter. After graduating with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, he sought out Sunday Assembly Detroit and joined its leadership. He’s now a committed Naturalistic Congregational Humanist. He lives in Rochester Hills where he bothers his beautiful wife with cool physics facts.
Victoria has been involved in SA since 2019, when she started dating then-president Austin Edwards. The two were married in 2022. Victoria was raised in the Evangelical Church amid the early 2000s purity culture before leaving due to the treatment of the LGBTQ+ community and women. She is still working on deconstructing and reconstructing post-Evangelicalism. She now works as a librarian and identifies community at the center of her value system.
Justine is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and after finishing up her MBA in Data Analytics she started attending events in 2023 after hearing about the organization from Victoria and Austin during the pandemic. Beyond bringing her financial and project management skills to the organization she also brings her love of traveling, running, and board games.
Lora is a long-time cyclist, enjoying both mountain and road biking as well as fat biking in the winter. Her career as a software engineer funds her cycling habit. She attended her first Sunday Assembly Detroit event in 2018. Lora became a regular during the pandemic when SA offered many online options. She continues to enjoy SA events in person.
Steve is our token Canadian board member and he is no stranger to Outreach, as the Ambassador Director for Recovering from Religion and Chapter Coordinator for Humanist Canada. Steve has a bachelor’s in history and primary/junior education. He was baptized Anglican, but raised as a freethinker and is now a lifelong Secular Humanist. He has been married to Cindy, a Christian, for 10 years. Steve and his wife believe in the importance of respect as they raise their two young children in an interfaith household. Dr. Jon Cleland Host is a Naturalistic Pagan, scientist, father, UU, and science educator. Jon grew up and lives in Michigan (Turtle Island) and has been building a reality-based spirituality for over 30 years. His motivation in all of this is to lovingly help build a better world for future generations, in gratitude for the existence of his Ancestors have given him.
