What Hosting Entails
Attention
From ensuring that all the details are hammered out to ensuring everyone showed up and is in the right place, it’s your job to have an attention to the details of the experience of the attendees.
Management
Even before attendees arrive, they are looking to you to show them what will happen at any moment. You are the one leading the event, be sure to communicate and manage the attendees effectively.
Preparedness
Be sure that you’ve called the venue in advance and reserved enough spots. Put together any material that you’re going to present. Scope out parking locations and walking paths. Generally ensure that you’re prepared for the event from start to finish.
Humility
Leadership is always there to help if you ask for it. If there is anything you’re confused about or need clarity on, please reach out to us at any point. Please also recognize if you cannot do something and ask for our help (reserving the venue, putting together information and graphics, advertising the event, etc.)
What It Means to Host
Sunday Assembly connects to and keeps its members primarily through its events outside of the Assembly. These other events are places where people can have the time and space to actually get to know each other and bond through shared and unique experiences. It’s critical that we have these events and further that there are dedicated people like yourself who are willing to help run them!
It’s not enough to simply have events though – people need to have a good time at those events otherwise they won’t come back! You’re the make or break person when it comes to ensuring that attendees enjoy themselves. Be sure that you’re up to the task and work closely with us to ensure you get all the help you need.
It’s a big job, but it’s thanks to hosts like you that we can make Sunday Assembly run smoothly. We appreciate all that you do!
